Objectives | ||
Abstract | Caterpillar drivetrain and engine divisions in partnership with Flybrid group (part of Torotrak group) and University of Hertfordshire will conduct a 42 month program to develop and commercialize a leading edge continuously variable hydrostatic transmission with a flywheel based energy storage system for off highway machines and construction equipment. This will enable improved performance offering reduction in fuel consumption and CO2 emissions and enable engine downsizing. This project will start September 2016, and is enabled by a 4.16M grant from Advanced Propulsion Center. The development of the system will be led from Caterpillar Wolverhampton and will involve consortium members facilities in Peterborough, Desford, Silverstone and Hatfield Hertfordshire. | |
